Q. Is there any security risk involved with using mySHPS Online Payment?
A. No. The online payment system is designed to ensure the highest security with every transaction. Sensitive information is encrypted with SSL and sent to the online payment system server.
Q. Do I have to subscribe to the online payment system to initiate payments? Is there a fee associated with utilizing the online payment service?
A. No, you do not have to subscribe. The service is absolutely free. All you need to do to utilize the online payment system is provide the required information, including the checking/savings account from which you wish to make your payments.
Q. Once I pay via the online payment service, do I still have the option to remit a check to pay my bill on any given month?
A. Yes, you can access the online payment system as you please and send payment via check whenever you prefer. The service is free and available with no registrations, subscriptions and/or qualifications. You can pay your bills with the convenience of online payment when it's right for you.
Q. What should I do if I am currently receiving two SHPS billing statements each month?
A. You will need to select the corresponding event number for each payment. Each Participant Billing Profile is based on specific information that can be obtained from your billing statement. You will need your billing statement to complete your billing profile.
Q. How do I know my payment has been received?
A. When you pay with the online payment system, your e-mail confirmation will be sent upon request of payment transaction.
Q. When will my payment be posted to my account?
A. As long as you make your online payment prior to 8:00 p.m. Eastern time, your payment will be posted within 1-3 business days. Any payment made after 8:00 p.m. Eastern time will be considered on the next day's transaction and will be posted within 2-4 business days after the payment transaction occurs.
Q. When will my payment clear the bank?
A. Provided your account information is correct and sufficient funds are available, your payment will be recorded within five business days of using the online payment system.
Q. Why does it take up to five business days for my payment to clear the bank?
A. The same day your payment is entered online, the online payment system submits your payment information to the banking network. However, a teller at the destination bank must manually process the information. (ATMs work in the same way.) A larger bank can often have your payment information processed on the same or the next business day, whereas a smaller bank may take up to five business days. The online payment system saves you time by sending your payment electronically and bypassing the mail system.
Q. If I enter my payment to the online payment system the day before it is due, will I be penalized for the bank processing delay?
A. No, you will not be penalized. All payments will be posted based on the submission (online entry) date. It is our recommendation that you obtain your e-mail confirmation for your records, because it will show the time the request for payment transaction.
Q. I’m not comfortable providing my email address, phone number, etc. because I don't want any more junk mail or solicitations.
A. In order to process your transaction, the online payment system requires certain information. At no time will any of the information you submit be made available to unauthorized third parties. In addition, the online payment system does not use advertising banners or site tracking statistics, nor will any such information be made available to unauthorized third parties.
