Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer
As executive vice president, chief strategy and marketing officer, Chris Ryan is accountable for developing SHPS’ strategy in the health advocacy and healthcare consumerism market, promoting SHPS as the leading provider of these solutions, and collaborating with employer- and partner-market segments to define and deliver healthcare consumerism services to the marketplace. Mr. Ryan brings more than 18 years' experience in human resources and healthcare outsourcing to his position.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Ryan served as SHPS’ vice president of market strategy and research, where he was a principle architect in building the content framework and foundation for SHPS’ integrated healthcare delivery system – a model that integrates SHPS’ healthcare and benefits administration products into a modular program that can be customized to meet the diverse needs of clients and business partners. He is also a noted author, contributing significantly to the publication of SHPS’ three books – 2007 SHPS Health Practices Study: What Every Self-Insured Employer Should Know (2007); Making Medicaid Work: A Practical Guide to Transforming Medicaid (2007) and Making Consumerism Work: A Practical Guide to Transforming Healthcare (2006). He has been cited in numerous publications throughout his career, including The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Investor’s Business Daily, HR Magazine and Employee Benefit News.
Before joining SHPS, Mr. Ryan worked for Hewitt Associates, Watson Wyatt, and Deloitte & Touche.
Mr. Ryan is a graduate of the University of Chicago and holds a bachelor of arts degree in physics. He also holds a master of business administration degree in marketing and management policy from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
